The EPT kicked off on Saturday its first €50,000 Super High Roller event for Season 13. Europe’s biggest poker tour is now hosted by the sunny city of Barcelona where some of world’s most popular poker players have gathered together to contend for shiny spade-like trophies and thrilling prize pools.

The €50,000 Super High Rollers habitually attract the attention of some of the world’s greatest, most experienced and profitable players. The EPT Season 13 Super High Roller tournament proved to be no exception to this rule. Day 1 of the event attracted an overall of 73 entries, of whom there were 60 left by the end. There were players to buy in two times throughout the day, with some of those being EPT regulars Mustapha Kanit, Ivan Luca, Max Silver, and Daniel Dvoress. Akin Tuna from Turkey even bought in three times.

Jason Mercier, a player that nowadays is considered to be one of the favorites for the title at each event he appears in, busted towards the end of Day 1.

Day 2 of the prestigious tournament is set to begin today at 12:30 local time. The event’s entries have so far accumulated a prize pool of €4.55 million. The overall figure to be distributed to a certain number of finishers will be announced today.

Aside from the biggest share of the money, the champion will receive a trophy and the right to call himself or herself the first EPT Season 13 Super High Roller winner, which is indisputably a great honor.

German player Julian Stuer will kick off Day 2 as the chip leader with a stack of 1,350,000. Stuer is no stranger to the European and the global poker scene with his participation in multiple EPT and WSOP tournaments. The player has a little more than $600,000 in live tournament winnings and now has the chance to increase that figure substantially.

Nick Petrangelo, who has just won the EPT Season 13 Barcelona €10,300 High Roller, German poker genius Fedor Holz, and eight-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Erik Seidel are also among the players who made it through Day 1 of the Super High Roller.

The event is a three-day one, which means that the name of the winner will become clear on August 22.
