The WPT Borgata Poker Open $3,500 Main Event is well underway at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. The popular gambling venue has been included on the WPT Main Tour schedule for years now and has always turned out to be a great success, attracting players from all around the US and the rest of the world. For a third consecutive year, the WPT Main Event at the Borgata has drawn more than a thousand entries.

Day 1B of the tournament has been completed a few hours ago with Vasillios Hrisafinis leading the chip counts for the day with a total of 193,300. Being a New Jersey resident, Hrisafinis is a frequent visitor to the Borgata. As for his poker achievements so far, the player has cashed in 14 live tournaments, scooping a total of $80,122 in those.

As many as 704 entries comprised the Day 1B field of the WPT Borgata Main Event. Of those, there will be 410 survivors to come back for Day 2, which is scheduled to start today at noon local time. Here it is important to note that Day 2 will gather together the Day 1B remaining players with those from Day 1A. The tournament’s first starting flight was played on September 18 and was completed with 152 remaining hopefuls out of the 297 entries who registered for the tournament.

Speaking of registration, it will remain open up until the start of Level 11 on Day 2. The tournament gives an unlimited re-entry opportunity, which means that players who get busted will be able to re-enter the event as many times as they find fit. With the survivors from the two starting flights combined, Day 2 of the event is to begin with approximately 560 players at the Borgata poker tables.

As mentioned above, Hrisafinis ended Day 1B holding more chips than anyone else at the tables. However, Day 1A chip leader – Farid Jattin, bagged 206,200 back on Sunday, which means that he will be leading the Day 2 pack as the only player to have gone beyond the 200,000 mark.

The WPT Borgata Poker Open $3,500 Main Event features a guaranteed prize pool of $3 million. However, it all shows that the initially announced guarantee will be surpassed. The eventual prize pool and the places to be paid are expected to be announced once registration for the tournament closes. The event will run through September 23.
