Casino Schenefeld in the German city of Hamburg is where the third stop on the Eureka Poker Tour Season 6 schedule is currently taking place. The €1,100 Main Event has already kicked off, drawing players and enthusiasts from the region and from different other parts of the world. Day 2 of the tournament was concluded last night with local poker celebrity (who enjoys equally big international fame) George Danzer as the chip leader.
Danzer will start Day 3 of the event with 854,000 and leading the remaining 22 survivors. They will have to reduce the field to the final table and maybe to the final six players. And those who make it through Day 3 will return at Casino Schenefeld tomorrow to determine the big winner.
The €1,100 Main Event attracted 367 entries, of whom 327 unique ones and 40 re-entries. A prize pool of €355,990 would be distributed to the top 55 finishers. In fact, the money bubble burst yesterday, with Gareth Chantler becoming the unfortunate bubble boy. The player was busted by David Yan. Eliminating Chantler, Yan won a massive pot that gave him confidence to start playing a bit more aggressively.
His stack increased significantly and action came to a point when he and Danzer were vying for the chip lead. It was all determined on the last three hands played for the night. During those final minutes of action, Yan lost several small pots, thus bagging 801,000 at the end, while Danzer left Casino Schenefeld happy to know that he was the player with the most chips in his bag.
The German poker pro won the Eureka Season 6 Hamburg €2,200 High Roller a few days ago and he will certainly be trying his best to score a second major title within the festival, a feat rarely accomplished. With four WSOP gold bracelets (capturing his most recent one this summer) and live tournament winnings of more than $2.7 million, Danzer is certainly capable of winning any poker tournament on this planet.
Day 3 of the €1,100 Main Event will start today at 2 pm local time and if things go as expected, the names of the final table players will become known by the end of the day.
