The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement posted its traditional monthly report on the revenue generated from both land-based and online gambling operations in September. Total gaming revenue decreased 1.5% year-on-year to $226.6 million. Revenue from gambling options offered at brick-and-mortar casinos amounted to $210.4 million, down 3.5% from the same month of the previous year. Internet gambling generated revenue of $16.2 million, reflecting a 35% rise from September 2015.
September 2016 had additional weekend day as compared to the same month of the previous year. However, the Labor Day Weekend was impacted by a storm which resulted in Atlantic City officials declaring a state of emergency. As it could be suggested, this affected negatively visitation figures at the city’s eight gambling venues and therefore casino revenue.
As many as four casinos posted drops in their September casino revenues. Bally’s AC generated a total of $18.1 million last month, down 3.6% from the figure posted for the same month of the previous year. Caesars was another casino to see a decrease in revenue last month. The gambling venue reported the amount of $29.9 million, down 3.9% from September 2015. On the other hand, its online gambling division, Caesars Interactive NJ, generated revenue of $3.2 million, reflecting a 21.9% increase from the same month of the previous year.
Harrah’s casino revenue dropped 8.3% last month to reach a little less than $29 million. Trump Taj Mahal was the fourth casino to see its revenue drop the prior month. It decreased 51.2% to $8.1 million. September was the casino’s last month of operation. The gambling venue closed doors on October 10 after adorning Atlantic City’s skyline for the past 25 years.
The Borgata was once again the casino to generate the highest monthly revenue. It reported the amount of $67.7 million for September, up 2% year-on-year. Land-based casino operations contributed a total of $64.3 million to the overall figure posted. Internet gambling revenue amounted to $3.4 million.
Revenue at Golden Nugget amounted to $21.5 million, up 9.5% year-on-year. Land-based casino operations generated $17.9 million. Online gambling contributed $3.7 million to the overall revenue figure reported by the venue.
Resorts posted a 10.6% increase in monthly revenue to a total of $16.9 million. Resorts Digital, its online gambling division, generated $2.9 million, representing a 208.3% increase from September 2015. Last but not least, revenue at Tropicana rose 8.1% year-on-year to $29.2 million. Land-based revenue totaled $26.2 million. As for the Internet gambling options offered by the casino, these generated the amount of $3 million.
Total gaming win at Atlantic City’s eight land-based casinos and their iGaming divisions amounted to $1.994 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2016, up 1.6% from the $1.962 billion reported for the same period of the previous year.
