Leading supplier of gambling software and services Playtech today announced that Dr. Armin Sageder is to head newly formed Playtech BGT Sports as its Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Sageder is the founder of Best Gaming Technology GmbH (BGT), the Vienna-based sports betting software provider Playtech acquired this summer for €138 million.
Playtech’s newly established division combines its Sports businesses, with those being BGT, Mobenga, Geneity, and Unilogic. More than 600 people will be working for the sports betting arm in offices based in Cyprus, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, and Bulgaria.
As Playtech BGT Sports CEO, Dr. Sageder will be charged with the division’s business and customer relations. It will also be his responsibility to assemble a team to manage Playtech’s new branch. Dr. Sageder will be reporting directly to Playtech CEO Mor Weizer.
As a combined entity, BGT Sports will be focused on developing a fully integrated, high-end sports betting technology solution. The new platform will be aimed to support Playtech clients in expanding and establishing their businesses and providing their customers with gambling experience across all known channels, including over-the-counter, self-service betting terminals, desktop, and mobile. Playtech said that it would leverage its omni-channel knowledge to produce a competitive product.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Sageder said that he is very excited to be offered the opportunity to create a powerhouse that would benefit clients and their gambling customers. The newly appointed executive pointed out that they will do so by investing in their products and services to truly enhance the sports betting experience offered to bettors.
Playtech CEO Mor Weizer noted that he believes Dr. Sageder is a person that has the capabilities to bring their sports betting business to the next level.
Dr. Sageder is one of the four founders of online payments company paysafecard. In 2005, he also founded sports betting developer and supplier BGT. Over the years, the company has established itself as one of the leaders in the provision of different solutions for the gambling industry. Self-service betting terminals have become its core product. BGT has been working with leading gambling operators Paddy Power Betfair, Betfred, William Hill, Codere, and Ladbrokes Coral.
In July, Playtech announced that it would acquire 90% in BGT for a total consideration of €138 million. The remaining 10% stake has been retained by Dr. Sageder. Under the terms of the deal, the official would remain with the company for the next three years at least.
