Lead generation and online performance marketing company Catena Media announced that it has further grown its UK portfolio with the acquisition of Casino UK (casinouk.com). The deal was valued at €10.6 million, the purchase price payable upon completion.
The Casino UK website provides reviews about UK-facing online casinos, guides about popular casino games, and other gambling-related content. The site is estimated to be generating revenue of around €600,000 per quarter, with operating margin standing at about 80%. The greater portion of its revenue is derived from the UK market.
Under the terms of the acquisition deal, which was penned on November 30, 2016, Catena Media will integrate Casino UK and all related assets into its own operations to “utilize the synergies” between the two businesses.
Commenting on his company’s most recent acquisition, Catena Media CEO Robert Andersson said in a Thursday press release that they are pleased with the opportunity to strengthen their position in the UK.
Early in October, Catena Media acquired another UK-based and oriented website. The company paid the amount of €3.2 million (with an option for an additional earn-out of up to €10.5 million) for sports news, betting and tips website SBAT.
Founded in 2012, Catena Media is a fast-growing lead generation company with offices in Malta, Serbia, and the United Kingdom. During the past year, it has focused its attention on growing its market position in the iGaming industry through organic growth and strategic acquisitions of key affiliate businesses in its main markets of interest.
Over the past several months, the company purchased several affiliate brands in the UK, German, and Italian markets. This spring, it entered the gambling news headlines after acquiring Serbian affiliate portal AskGamblers for the amount of €15 million. The transaction has become the largest in Catena Media’s four-year history.
AskGamblers is one of the most visited portals within the industry featuring online casino reviews and rankings. It also provides international players with the opportunity to solve disputes and issues with online casinos, mainly ones related to unpaid winnings. Although accessed by gambling customers from all around Europe, the UK has been the website’s core market.
