Prague has become the last-ever stop on the tour’s schedule. The EPT Season 13 Prague festival kicked off on December 8 and is set to be concluded today. There are six players left to contend for the first-place prize of the headlining tournament – the €5,300 Main Event. Hungary’s Marton Czuczor leads the final pack of six with US pro David Peters not so far behind him.
Czuczor is no stranger to the EPT. Over the past several years, the player has taken part in a number of EPT tournaments around Europe, although he has not scored any significant victories. His overall live tournament earnings currently amount to $655,222. The Hungarian collected his biggest live cash of $140,457 (€105,000) in 2013, when he finished 2nd in an EPT Barcelona €2,200 No-Limit Hold’em event. Being one of the final six in the ongoing EPT Prague Main Event, the player will certainly improve the above result. All six finalists will leave with no less than €145,900 today. A nice first-place payout of €774,600 has been tucked for the winner.
This year’s EPT Main Event in Prague has been the largest such tournament to have ever taken place in the Czech Republic. It attracted a massive field of 1,192 entries, all gathered together to take part in and celebrate the last-ever Main Event in EPT’s thirteen-year history. The great interest in the tournament eventually generated a prize pool of €5,781,200 to be distributed to the top 231 finishers.
Day 5, the event’s penultimate one, was played on Sunday. As many as 18 players returned to set the six-handed final table. And it was set by none other but the above-mentioned David Peters. The US player eliminated David Lopez in the last hand of Level 29, which also turned out to be the final hand to be dealt Sunday night. Although Peters collected a considerable pot, he could not emerge as the final-table chip leader. The player, who sports live tournament bankroll of more than $14 million, will start Day 6 of the EPT Prague Main Event second in chips with a total of 8,880,000. Czuczor, the player to lead the final six, secured a stack of 9,710,000 in chips on Sunday.
Here are all remaining survivors and their respective chip stacks:
Marton Czuczor (Hungary) – 9,710,000
David Peters (USA) – 8,880,000
Sergei Petrushevskii (Russia) – 5,265,000
Sam Cohen (USA) – 4,520,000
Jasper Meijer van Putten (Netherlands) – 3,815,000
Marius Gierse (Germany) – 3,550,000
Six-handed play is set to kick off today at noon local time at Hilton Prague Hotel, the festival’s host venue.
