Cate Hall Tops GPI Player of the Year Ladies Ranking

A look at the latest update of the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard shows that David Peters has overtaken Fedor Holz and is now ranking 1st. It can also be seen that Cate Hall is occupying the top position among all female poker players included in the ranking with 2,383.64 points generated since the beginning of the year. Hall ranks 74th in the general GPI Player of the Year leaderboard.

The Arizona-born player has been particularly active in 2016. She has made 27 in-the-money finishes in some of the world’s most prestigious tournaments to have run over the course of the year, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Most recently, the female poker pro cashed in a WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic $5,200 No-Limit Hold’em tournament. She finished 3rd to scoop a payout of $95,375 and add 260.15 points to her GPI PoY score. In November, she finished 5th in a partypoker.net WPT Montreal C$10,400 High Roller for C$32,000 and 147.90 GPI PoY points.

In early October, Hall was seen at the tables of Maryland Live! Casino for the WPT Maryland Live! Poker festival that ran there. The player cashed in three events within said festival, collecting more than $100,000 in those. Her best cash amounted to $68,554 and she received it for taking 6th place in the $3,500 Main Event. Her in-the-money finish secured her with 277.40 points for her GPI PoY score.

Earlier this year, Hall finished 9th in another WPT Main Event – the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $3,500 Championship. Her share of the tournament’s prize pool amounted to $65,404 and she also collected 314.57 GPI PoY points.

Overall, Hall has cashed in 40 different events since the beginning of her poker career and has accumulated live earnings of more than $807,752. She scored her best live cash of $291,320 in late 2015 when she not only made it to the final table of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic $10,400 Main Event, but also took 5th place.

Following the Wednesday GPI update, Hall is now taking a 93rd place in the ranking with 2,661.39 points. Her score reflects her performance over the past 36 months. The GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, on the other hand, represents a player’s performance over the current calendar year.
