Maurice Hawkins Ties with Alexandru Masek for Most WSOP Circuit Gold Rings Won

Lifestyle

Maurice Hawkins was among the poker players we were certain we would be seeing more of in 2017, and he has already started delivering on our expectations. It was mere days ago when he won his ninth WSOP Circuit gold ring to tie the record for the most gold pieces ever won with Alexandru Masek.

Hawkins captured his most recent piece of WSOP Circuit jewelry earlier this week for taking down the last gold ring event on the Palm Beach Kennel Club stop’s schedule. The player triumphed in a $365 No-Limit Hold’em tournament to make history.

And he will certainly remain in the WSOP Circuit’s history as one of the tour’s celebrities. Last year, the player did something no one else had achieved before – he won three WSOP Circuit Main Events within a single year. It is interesting to note that he took down one such Main Event at Palm Beach Kennel Club.

Hawkins has been active on the live circuit scene for more than a decade now. He has taken part in multiple major tournaments around the world, but his cash history shows that he may have a thing for WSOP Circuit events as he has taken part in a wide number of them. The player has cashed in a total of 42 WSOP Circuit tournaments over the years, scooping a total of $1,042,917. His overall WSOP winnings of $1,366,228 are also complemented by 17 in-the-money finishes in events from the annual WSOP festivals. As for his overall live tournament winnings, these amount to more than $2.3 million.

The player won his first WSOP Circuit gold ring in 2008 at Harrah’s Atlantic City. He captured two more pieces in 2009. Hawkins then took a while before adding another ring to his collection. It was in 2014 when he scooped his fourth gold piece and he did this for emerging the victor in a $580 buy-in event with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million at Palm Beach Kennel Club.

Gold ring number five came in the spring of 2016. It was followed by a sixth piece, which Hawkins captured only two days later. Two weeks later, the player made another statement that he wanted WSOP Circuit glory by winning one more coveted jewelry. The last two pieces came in the fall of 2016 and a few days ago, both of which were won at Palm Beach Kennel Club, as already mentioned.
