Sachar Gaming is hardly the first online gaming solutions provider to obtain a license from the Nagaland state’s authorities. There are six other iGaming providers which have previously received legal permission to operate within this Indian state. However, unlike Sachar Gaming, the other six operators had been issued permits allowing them to offer only one game, poker.
The state of Nagaland was the first to enforce specific regulations on online gaming within the territory of India. The set of laws passed in 2016 and include the Nagaland Prohibition of Gambling and Promotion of Games of Skill and the Nagaland Prohibition of Gambling and Promotion and Regulation of Online Games of Skill Rules to regulate interactive skill games, such as poker.
In December 2016, the authorities in Nagaland issued their first license to the Bangalore-based company K365 Web Assets Private Limited, which runs a poker website by the name of Khelo365. The Nagaland government went on to grant identical licenses to several other interactive poker operators, namely Pokerhigh, Club Empire, and Pokabunga. Later on, a license was issued to the online gaming operator PokerBaazi, owned and managed by Baazi Networks Private Limited, allowing it to offer to Nagaland residents nothing but poker.
All operators, licensed by the state of Nagaland, are required to annually pay a fee that amounts to INR1 million per games or INR2.5 million for their multi-gaming offerings for the first three years after obtaining the license. At the end of the specified period, the annual fee per game would amount to INR2 million and INR5 million for a two-year gaming portfolio. In addition, the licensees are required to pay the state of Nagaland a tax of 0.5% of their net revenue.
PK Jain, Head of Operations of Sachar Gaming, expressed his confidence that the issuing of one such license will further contribute to Sachar’s credibility and will serve as a guarantee the company’s customers would be provided with a fair and secure gaming environment when enjoying the games, offered at Sachar’s website.
Jain went on to say, obtaining this permission will further the more aggressive advertising and marketing of Sachar Gaming’s interactive portfolio. The company’s Head of Operations is optimistic that the license will also enable Sachar to expand its gaming collection by adding new products and games. Jain noted that the gaming solutions provider was set to soon launch more products. The Head of operations concluded by saying the new license would allow Sachar to achieve its goal of becoming the leading operator of games of skill on the territory of the country.
Sachar Gaming is currently one the key iGaming solutions suppliers in India and operates the interactive poker website Khelplay as well as the rummy website Khelprummy.
