Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom Scores $500,000 Online Poker Profit in a Single Day

While the live poker world is still cooling off from the recently completed World Series of Poker, which was closed with New Jersey’s Scott Blumstein winning the $10,000 World Championship, the online poker scene is packed with action just as always.

Viktor Blom, a Swedish poker professional, also known by his online moniker ‘Isildur1’, seems to have continued his hot streak from June, when he became that month’s most profitable online player, and has kept on reaping profits in July, as well.

On Monday, the player, who is well-known for his preference for high stakes online poker action, earned more than $575,000 at PokerStars’ online poker tables, according to high stakes database HighstakesDB.

Blom’s successful streak began with a more than a two-hour $1,000/$2,000 2-7 Triple Draw session against Germany’s donthnrmepls, from which session the player collected around $155,300. Isildur1 then won more than $80,000 after playing $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha against Russian poker pro Timofey Kuznetsov.

Later on Monday, the Swedish player played against Cobus83 at two $100/$200 Pot-Limit Omaha tables. The two players spent almost three hours at one of the tables, and around 2 hours and 40 minutes at the other. Isildur1 eventually ended up with close to $370,000 from the two tables.

The player’s stats currently show that he has won almost $1.9 million at the high stakes tables of PokerStars over the past two months, and is at an all-time high with overall profit of nearly $3.4 million.

As mentioned above, Blom was particularly active (and profitable) back in June. The player decided to skip this year’s edition of the WSOP in favor of online poker. That decision may have been the right one, particularly given the fact that his last WSOP in-the-money finish dated back to 2012, when he finished 14th in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, good for $105,235.

Last month, Blom earned more than $1.1 million online, becoming the winningest online player for June. He played a total of 38,038 hands over 132 sessions at PokerStars’ tables.

Isildur1 first drew attention to himself back in 2009 when he participated in some of the largest pots ever played in history of online poker. A year later, he joined PokerStars’ team of online professionals, but left it in 2012 and quickly became a brand ambassador for Full Tilt Poker. Blom was praised by some of the world’s most popular poker pros shortly after he emerged on the online poker scene.

The Swedish poker pro may have been less active in the live tournament circuit, but he has still been quite successful. In 2012, the player took down the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller, known to have been one of the highest buy-in events to have taken place annually at the time.
