PokerStars Rolls Out Winning Moments Feature to Help Players Celebrate Their Achievements

News

Online poker room PokerStars announced on Tuesday that it will introduce the PokerStars Winning Moments video feature that will help online players celebrate, remember, and share their moments of triumph with family and friends.

The announcement comes ahead of the upcoming World Championship of Online Poker. The major online poker festival is set to kick off on September 3 and will run through September 26. The PokerStars Winning Moments video feature will be debuted during this year’s edition of the WCOOP. Winners and final table participants in No-Limit Hold’em tournaments on the WCOOP schedule will each be sent a personalized video with the most memorable moments from their participation in the respective event.

Videos will generally feature key hands played by the players, including their final ones, with those being commented on by PokerStars’ popular commentators Joe Stapleton and James Hartigan. Players will be able to share their Winning Moments with everyone they want to.

As explained by PokerStars, innovative video generation technology by Treepodia through series of algorithms will select the most important moments and will combine them into a Winning Moments video. Shortly after a player wins an event or at least wins big from an event, they will be emailed a link to their personalized video.

The new feature will initially be available to WCOOP players, but will then be gradually rolled out to all No-Limit Hold’em tournaments on PokerStars for all players that cash one hundred times their buy-ins.

Other Recent Innovations on PokerStars

The online poker room has recently announced the implementation of new Time to Act time settings for its ring games. The changes came as the operator’s response to complaints about some players taking a bit more time than necessary before acting.

The Time to Act feature became active on July 31. Under the new settings, ring games players have 12 seconds to act pre-flop if not facing a raise and 15 seconds if facing a raise pre-flop and post-flop. Under the old settings made, participants had 18 seconds before acting pre-flop if not facing a raise and 25 seconds if facing a raise and for post-flop decisions.

The Time to Act feature was introduced on $0.01/$0.02 No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha ring games, but it is expected to be gradually implemented on other games.

This was the first time that PokerStars rolled out changes in its Time to Act settings since 2013. Back then, the new settings saw mixed reactions from the operator’s online poker community. While online poker enthusiasts were generally happy about the changes, professionals complained that these would prevent them from being able to play at several tables at a time or at least would make that more difficult. Those same professional players are not likely to welcome the new settings, as well, although everyone would admit that tanking is a rather vexing practice.
