Watching the Final Day of the 2017 PokerStars Championship Prague €10,300 High Roller was like experiencing a deja vu. This time a year ago, Will Kassouf won the last-ever EPT High Roller event, taking home the trophy, but the lion’s share of the prize pool was grabbed by Patrick Serda thanks to a heads-up deal which saw the bigger-stacked player take away the largest monetary prize in the tournament.
Only twelve months later, the same happened at the last-ever PokerStars Championship High Roller event in Prague.
The €10,300 buy-in High Roller tournament of the PokerStars Championship Prague came to an end, with Danny Tang taking down the event, emerging victorious from a 256-entry field. Despite the fact that he won the event’s trophy, Tang did not lay his hands on the largest cash portion of the prize pool, as the Spanish Sergio Aido took the lion’s share home after a two-way deal, granting him with €449,000 that was the tournament’s largest monetary prize.
The Hong Kong player Danny Tang, who started the Final Day of the event second in chips, took down the 2017 PokerStars Championship Prague €10,300 High Roller event for €381,000.
Apart from ranking first and taking home the event’s trophy, Danny Tang also won the largest cash prize in his career so far. The 25-year-old player’s total live earnings to date amount to $1,292,704.
Day 3 Action
This year’s edition of the 2017 PokerStars Championship Prague €10,300 High Roller event attracted a total player field of 256 entries, including 61 single re-entries. The entrants accounted for a total prize pool amounting to €2,483,200 that was split among the top 39 players.
Day 3 of the event saw only 16 players return for action, which started with Sergio Aido occupying the chip leader position, with the possession of 2,147,000 in chips. At that time, Danny Tang was second, holding 1,593,000 in chips.
After around three hours of play and a number of eliminations, he final table of nine was formed. At the time when the nine last players were standing around the final table, it was Ben Heath who got the chip lead, with 2,400,000 in chips, followed by Kfir Ivgi with 2,150,000 in chips. The players got eliminated one by one, with Sergio Aido and Danny Tang being the last two players standing after the elimination of Hossein Ensan at the third position. The two of them decided to stop the clock and consider a deal. Eventually, the ICM deal they struck, ended the tournament instantly, with the lion’s share of the prize pool going to Aido, while the trophy and winner’s honors being granted to Tang.
Final Table Ranking
With Danny Tang occupying the first place in the ranking, taking home the €10,300 High Roller event’s trophy and a cash prize of €381,000 after a two-way deal, it was Sergio Aido who ranked on the runner-up position scooping the lion’s share of the prize pool. As mentioned above, Aido was granted with a guaranteed prize portion of €499,000. The third place was occupied by Hossein Ensan from Germany, who got €242,000 for his efforts.
The UK player Ben Heath remained fourth, followed by Orpen Kisacikoglu from Turkey. The sixth place was taken by Liwei Sun, while the Russian poker player Roman Emelyanov became seventh. The eighth position in the ranking was occupied by Preben Stokkan from Norway, who scooped a cash prize of €63,000.
