Jeremy White Leads 31 Survivors into WPT LAPC $10,000 Championship Day 4

The 493-strong field of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 Main Event was reduced to just 31 contenders over the span of the past three days. Jeremy White will stomp into Day 4 of the prestigious event as the chip leader and as one of the two players to have passed the one-million chip mark.

White will kick off the fourth day of action with a stack of 1.552 million. The player cemented his chip advantage by eliminating four players on Day 3 and by maintaining his momentum throughout the day.

After he and his fellow contenders called it shots on Monday, White told WPT staff that having more chips than anyone else at the table was of great help to him. The player also pointed out that he was very pleased with how he performed throughout the day.

White eliminated former WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen in 37th place toward the end of Day 3, which helped him significantly secure the overnight chip lead.

White revealed that being one of the few players with a significant chip stack before them made it possible for him to put his fellow contenders to the test. The player is determined to apply this strategy on Day 4 of the event. He and the other 30 survivors from Monday will resume action at the host venue, Commerce Casino, today at noon local time. The players will play four 120-minute levels.

Who Made It to Day 4?

As mentioned above, there was one more player to pass the one-million mark at the end of Day 3 of play. That other player was Manuel Martinez. He will return at the host casino second in chips with a stack of 1.035 million.

Notables still in contention include poker super starPhil Hellmuth, who is vying for his first WPT title, Zachary Smiley, who is looking to win his second title from the WPT, and Anthony Zinno, who is eying WPT title number four.

Here it is important to note that Zinno won the LAPC Main Event back in February 2015 for a prize of $1,015,860 and his second WPT title within the same month. A victory in the current edition of the Championship would make Zinno the only player in WPT history to win the same Main Event twice. It will also secure the popular poker pro with a record fourth title from the series. In other words, Zinno now has the chance to break the tie with Gus Hansen, Darren Elias, Chino Rheem, and Carlos Mortensen, or the other players to have won three WPT titles.

This year’s WPT LAPC $10,000 Championship attracted a field of 493 entries, who generated a prize pool of $4,681,035. The top 62 finishers will leave with a payout. The money bubble burst on Monday. Each of the 31 survivors are now guaranteed a minimum cash of $27,830. The winner, whose name will become clear on March 1, will receive the amount of $1 million in prize money, including a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.
