Cyprus Casinos Welcomes Millionth Visitor at Limassol Property

News

Shortly after celebrating its first anniversary, Cyprus Casinos (C2), the Cypriot arm of integrated resorts operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment, reached another important milestone.

The operator welcomed its millionth visitor on July 18, 2019. Oana Georgiana Luca was the millionth visitor to go through the doors of C2’s casinos. More specifically, Mrs. Luca, who is also a registered member of C2’s rewards program, visited C2 Limassol on the above-mentioned day to help the operator reach the important milestone.

To celebrate its millionth visitor, C2 presented Mrs. Luca with a fine jewelry worth €5,000 sponsored by Michalis Diamond Gallery. She also received a complimentary dinner for four at Columbia Bistro at C2 Limassol.

C2 currently operates four casinos around Cyprus. C2 Limassol was the first one to open doors in June 2018. The property was launched as a temporary casino that will remain operational while Melco’s City of Dreams Mediterranean resort is under development. The luxury property that will feature a hotel, casino, MICE facilities, retail space, and a number of dining outlets is slated to open doors in late 2021.

Late last year, C2 also debuted two satellite casinos – one in Nicosia and the other in Larnaca. And earlier this month, the company cut the ribbon on its third satellite casino on the territory of Cyprus, with that one being located in tourist hub Ayia Napa.

Commenting on welcoming their one-millionth visitor, City of Dreams Mediterranean and C2 President Craig Ballantyne stressed on the importance of their achievement and pointed out that with C2 Limassol, the three operational satellite casinos, and the upcoming opening of a fourth one in Paphos, C2 will be able to attract even more visitors from around Cyprus as well as from abroad.

Mr. Ballantyne added that the opening of City of Dreams Mediterranean in 2021 will further enhance “Cyprus’ regional and global position as an important entertainment and tourist destination.

Ayia Napa Mayor Inaugurates Satellite Casino

As mentioned earlier, C2 debuted its third satellite casino in Ayia Napa earlier this month. The Mayor of the popular seaside resort inaugurated the gambling venue and its facilities on Wednesday, July 31. The satellite casino features 50 slot machines and a Columbia Bistro and is located in a tourist-heavy area of the city.

Commenting on the new addition to Ayia Napa’s tourism product, the city’s Mayor, Yiannis Karousos, said that they are particularly happy “that Melco has chosen our municipality to operate its satellite casino” and that he is confident the city will reap major benefits from the new property combined with “Melco’s expertise and professionalism.”

C2 is also gearing preparations for the opening of its fourth and final satellite casino in Cyprus. The fourth facility will be located in Paphos and is slated to welcome its first visitors later this year.

Last week, the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission announced that it has imposed certain restrictions on the way casino gambling is advertised in the nation. C2, as the exclusive land-based casino operator in the country, will be able to promote its properties on radio and television only between 10 pm and 6 am.
