Las Vegas casino operator Full House Resorts has revealed plans to tap into the newly opened Indiana mobile sports betting market through a recently penned partnership with WSI US, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of gaming and hospitality giant Wynn Resorts.
WSI is known to be the primary interactive gaming and sports betting business of Wynn Resorts. While few details have been released about the nature of the partnership between Full House Resorts and Wynn Resorts, it became known this past week that the latter would power Full House’s mobile and desktop sports betting operations in the US states of Indiana and Colorado.
Indiana legalized sports betting as part of a larger gambling overhaul this past summer. The state’s first brick-and-mortar sports betting facilities opened doors on September 1, while the first legal digital operations went live on October 3.
Full House operates Rising Star Casino Resort in that state. The property is located in the town of Rising Sun, which is situated about two hours south of Indianapolis. Full House previously partnered with Churchill Downs’ sports betting brand BetAmerica to operate its retail sportsbook in Indiana. The casino company is yet to launch a retail sports betting facility in its Indiana-based casino resort.
Powering Sports Betting in Colorado
As mentioned above, sports betting went live in Indiana on September 1. The activity was off to a good start during its full first month, according to figures reported by the Indiana Gaming Commission. The state’s operational sportsbooks handled $35.2 million in bets between September 1-30 and generated revenue of $8.6 million. The launch of digital betting in early October is expected to boost further betting handle and revenue figures.
Aside from Indiana, the partnership between Full House and Wynn Resorts’ digital sports betting division also includes the state of Colorado. However, while in Indiana the deal between the two Las Vegas-headquartered companies could bear fruit within weeks, they would probably have to wait for a little while before being able to launch sports betting operations in Colorado.
The state is yet to legalize sports betting. Colorado voters will cast their votes on whether sports betting should be allowed in the Centennial State during a November 5 ballot. Residents of the state will be able to vote against or in favor of Proposition DD that calls for the legalization of athletic wagering in a bid for Colorado to collect additional tax revenue to fill a massive budget gap.
It is yet to be seen how ballot initiative action will unfold in early November and whether Colorado will become the latest state to legalize sports wagering following the landmark May 2018 decision of the US Supreme Court to strike down a federal ban on the practice.
Full House operates Bronco Billy’s Casino in Colorado. The property is located in the city of Cripple Creek.
Commenting on their partnership with Wynn Resorts, Full House President and CEO Daniel R. Lee said that they are excited to team up with the major gambling company to “conduct mobile sports wagering throughout Indiana and Colorado” and that given the fact Wynn Resorts is “renowned for its unparalleled focus on guest service and as the premier operator in the gaming industry”, they are “thrilled to see them bring their unique vision to the online space, beginning with the residents of – and any visitors to – Indiana and Colorado.”
