Former Kindred Executive Tommi Maijala Steps In as Relax Gaming CEO

Major provider of online casino content and an aggregation platform Relax Gaming announced late last week the appointment of Tommi Maijala as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Maijala is replacing Relax Gaming’s current CEO Daniel Eskola who took the role about 18 months ago. Mr. Eskola will remain with the company as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

Mr. Maijala brings in a wealth of experience into the popular industry provider. He previously served as Director and then as CEO of iGame Group. The company was purchased by Kindred Group (then Unibet) in 2015. With iGame Group’s new owner, Mr. Maijala was appointed as Chief Commercial Officer Malta. His role involved leading the gambling group’s operations in France, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

As mentioned above, Mr. Eskola will take a new role at Relax Gaming now that he is succeeded by Mr. Maijala. The now former CEO of the provider will serve as its Chief Commercial Officer. He will be tasked with directing the company’s commercial strategy with focus on entering new markets and securing bigger strategic partnerships.

Relax Gaming said that the division of tasks between its CEO and CCO will “give multiple business areas more time and dedication on the executive management level.” As a result, the company will be able to further cement itself as a key supplier in the online gaming market.

Further Growth

Mr. Maijala said of his appointment that he is extremely honored to join Relax Gaming and its team as he has been following the company from day one. He added that the casino provider has grown significantly in recent years “in terms of product, offices, talent, and market visibility” and that it is great to “be a part of such a promising future.”

Relax Gaming was founded in 2010. The company’s ethos and goals involve “simplifying B2B content delivery for the modern iGaming landscape.”

With a quick, one-time integration, Relax Gaming provides access to a portfolio of more than 640 online casino games and a wide range of proprietary products, including poker, bingo, and casino offering. The company provides content through its Silver Bullet program for commercially represented partners and Powered By program for commercially independent partners.

Relax Gaming is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, the UK Gambling Commission, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and the Danish Gambling Authority.

Of his new role at the casino content supplier, Mr. Eskola sad that he is very excited to be able to “dedicate more time to scale our business as CCO and lend more support to the already great work our commercial team has delivered in the last 18 months.”

The now former Relax Gaming CEO said of his successor that he is “a highly respected individual in the industry and I look forward to working with him to realise the untapped commercial potential of the company and trigger further growths as their product offering and reputation grows.
