Kindred Launches Online Casino, Betting Operation in Pennsylvania

News

European iGaming and sports betting operator Kindred Group has reached another important milestone in its US gambling expansion push with the launch of its digital gaming and wagering products in Pennsylvania this past Friday.

Kindred entered the Keystone State’s retail betting space in late September when it debuted its Unibet Sportsbook at Mohegan Sun Pocono, the company’s local partner.

On Friday, the gambling operator was then given the nod by state gambling regulators to go live with online casino and betting. The announcement about the Friday launch was in line with Kindred’s strategy to expand across states where online gambling and sports betting are legal.

As mentioned earlier, Kindred was able to enter the Keystone State through a partnership with the Mohegan Tribe, a Connecticut-based federally recognized tribe that owns the Mohegan Sun Pocono casino resort in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The European operator and the tribe teamed up early this year.

They debuted a sports betting facility at the Mohegan Sun Pocono property in late September. The Unibet Sportsbook occupies 1,130 square feet at the casino floor. It was the 11th sportsbook to open doors in Pennsylvania since November 2018 when legal retail betting commenced in the state.

Kindred’s Online Presence

Kindred’s online sportsbook and digital casino operation went live in the Keystone State just over a month and a half after the launch of the brick-and-mortar facility at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

The company’s online gaming operation is powered by the iGaming platform of Pala Interactive. As for the digital sportsbook, Kindred has agreed earlier this year to use Kambi’s wagering platform. Kambi itself has expanded significantly its presence across the regulated US betting field, teaming up with major companies to support their wagering operations.

Commenting on their digital launch in Pennsylvania, Kindred US SVP Manuel Stan said Friday that they were thrilled to take their partnership with Mohegan Sun Pocono online and “bring the Pennsylvanian guests a state-of-the-art online gambling experience.”

The Kindred official also praised Mohegan Sun for being a great partner throughout the preparation for their digital launch and noted that “we are confident that this will be a long-term and successful relationship in bringing a top-quality product to Pennsylvania.”

Aviram Alroy, Vice President of Interactive Gaming at Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, added that they are thrilled to introduce to their customers an opportunity to place bets and game online. Mr. Alroy went on that “our sportsbook lounge is a highly engaging and joyful experience on-premises and Kindred Group are able to extend that experience online through our strategic partnership.”

Pennsylvania is the second state Kindred has launched its online product in. The company entered New Jersey earlier this year through the launch of a digital sportsbook and gaming operation. Kindred has picked Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City as its local partner in the Garden State.
