BetAmerica Sports Betting App Goes Live in Indiana

News

Another player has joined Indiana’s mobile betting fold in a bid to capitalize on the state’s nascent athletic gambling market, following the legalization of sports betting over the summer and the launch of the first operations in early September.

Casino and racetrack operator Churchill Downs Incorporated announced Monday that its digital BetAmerica Sportsbook has gone live in the Hoosier State to bring the number of mobile betting apps servicing Indiana bettors to four.

Churchill Downs’ sports betting brand, BetAmerica Sportsbook entered the state with the opening of a retail sports betting facility at Rising Star Casino Resort in Rising Sun in November.

Following Monday’s launch of the sports betting app, BetAmerica Sportsbook customers can place bets on a wide range of professional and collegiate sports as well as on major sporting events taking place around the world. Bettors will be able to wager on their favorite sports from anywhere within Indiana.

Commenting on Monday’s roll-out of the sports betting app, BetAmerica President Ian Williams said that that they were excited to be able to offer their betting experience to fans throughout the Hoosier State and that “sports enthusiasts can now enjoy placing bets, including in-game betting and super odds boosts, through the online BetAmerica Sportsbook.”

Indiana’s Sports Betting Market Thrives in First Months

The first three months of legal sports betting in Indiana were more than promising, particularly after the launch of the state’s first mobile betting app in early October.

Following the authorization of sports betting on the territory of the state, the first legal bet was placed on September 1. The Indiana Gaming Commission first gave the green light for the launch of retail sportsbooks and later on authorized the start of mobile wagering.

As many as 14 retail sportsbooks have opened doors so far at the state’s existing casinos. DraftKings was the first digital operator to go live with online and mobile wagering. That happened in early October. Three more operators have joined the Boston-headquartered company since those first days of October, with those being Rush Street Gaming’s BetRivers, FanDuel, and now BetAmerica.

According to stats from the Indiana Gaming Commission, more than $274.1 million was legally wagered in the state since September 1. Mobile accounted for the majority of bets taken by Indiana sportsbooks. Digital sports betting handle amounted to $144.2 million as per the latest update of the state’s wagering states, while retail handle totaled $123.8 million.

Overall sports betting revenue amounted to nearly $29.4 million and translated to $2.79 million in tax revenue to the state. Indiana-licensed sports betting operators are required to pay a 9.5% tax on their revenue from state bettors.

Indiana’s digital sports betting fold is poised to grow further as several more operators have been licensed to roll out wagering apps by the Indiana Gaming Commissions. While it is to be seen when these will go live in the Hoosier State, it is believed that they all target pre-Super Bowl launch.
