A video-poker pay table lists the credits returned for each winning hand at each credit wager. Read the whole table; the game name alone is not enough. Use a standard nine-six Jacks or Better example. The full-house row returns nine credits for one credit wagered, or forty-five credits for five wagered. The flush row returns six or thirty credits respectively. This is what the nine-six shorthand describes. A qualifying pair returns one credit at a one-credit wager and five at a five-credit wager. That returns the wager; it is not an extra profit equal to the wager on top of a separate refund. The royal-flush row can break simple proportional scaling. In this example, one credit returns two hundred and fifty credits, but five credits return four thousand. Dividing four thousand by five gives eight hundred credits returned per credit staked. That special rate depends on the displayed table and wager. Convert credits to money using the denomination. At twenty-five cents per credit, a forty-five-credit full-house award is eleven dollars and twenty-five cents. The five-credit stake was one dollar and twenty-five cents. Changing the variant, denomination or feature can change the table. Confirm the selected column, total stake and any bonus conditions. Do not increase spending merely to qualify for a larger advertised award.
