Mini RouletteMini Roulette is a wonderful, novelty online game by Swedish-based gaming studio NetEnt. It is a mini, compact version of the full European-style game and instead of 37 numbered pockets on the wheel, it features only 13 numbers.

NetEnt’s Mini Roulette launched in September 2012 as a casual, side game that can be enjoyed by players at various web casinos, sports books and bingo sites. Despite its tiny size, however, it offers an authentic casino experience and can be played as a stand-alone game. The roulette wheel is smaller and contains 6 red and 6 black numbers, as well as a zero. The classic table layout is also downsized to match the limited pockets of the wheel. As expected, the payouts are lower – for instance, a Straight (a bet on a single number, which is the highest-paying bet in roulette) pays 11:1, while a Split pays 5:1. The reason for this is that the odds in this version are much different than in any full game, which is easily demonstrated with the chances of landing a zero. In standard roulette, the chance of hitting a zero is 0.28%, while here, it jumps to 7.70%.

The betting limits are typical for a NetEnt roulette game and range from 1.00 to 500.00 credits per round. The maximum win, at the same time, is 1,760 credits.

Gaming Experience

Playing NetEnt’s Mini Roulette does not require any prior knowledge of the rules or the betting options. The interface and features are specifically designed to match the compact size of the game. After opening it, players choose a chip (in sizes 1.00, 5.00, 10.00, and 100.00) from the right side of the screen and place it on their preferred number or group of numbers on the table layout. It is in the center of the screen and is in the classic shape, only down-sized.

Once the bet is placed, two signs appear below the roulette table – Spin, which sets off the movement of the wheel, and Clear, which is used to clear all bets. When the Spin button is selected, the brown spinning wheel appears in the middle of the game screen and determines whether the player’s selection is winning or not. After the spin, players can click Rebet to repeat their bet or place a chip on any position of the table to change it.

Up to 5 winning numbers are displayed on the left side of the screen, while in the top right corner, the table limits can be seen. Hovering over them, you can see the rather short pay table. The only settings that can be adjusted is to enable or disable the sound effects and to turn on the Fast Play mode from the kangaroo button. The game rules can also be opened in a new window.

Specific Features

As a simpler, miniature version of the traditional roulette game, Mini Roulette does not have many extra features or additional functions. The table layout gives players several options for placing bets – inside bets (Straights, Splits, Street and Square bets) and a handful of outside bets such as columns, half dozens, Red or Black, and Odd or Even. The payouts for all these are significantly lower than in the standard game, but this is to be expected.

What comes as a nice surprise is the Refund on Zero rule added by the developers at NetEnt
. It says that if the ball falls on zero, 50% of the bets placed on other numbers are refunded to the player. This rule is quite uncommon and it decreases the house edge significantly, which is great news for all players. However, the bets placed on zero pay out normally.

There is no Autoplay function and any detailed statistics that would be interesting to some players. Those who play in real-money mode can access the latest game history.

Conclusion

NetEnt’s Mini Roulette is an extremely simple and easy to play game, but at the same time, it is just as entertaining as any other virtual roulette offered on the web. After all, despite its small size, it works the same way and has a traditional design with a wooden-style wheel and a green table. With its simple interface and convenient buttons, it a preferred choice for gambling enthusiasts who have little or no experience with roulette games.

Due to the different odds and payouts in this variation of roulette, the theoretical Return to Player percentage is 96.15%. This a bit lower than the typical payback offered by the full-sized roulette games from NetEnt.
