Older edition — looking for another slot?
This review documents a historical game edition. The archived rules and screenshots do not confirm current availability.
Explore Microgaming gamesFlight Zone is a five-reel, 25-payline military-themed slot originally released by Microgaming. This review covers the historical desktop edition pictured below, with stacked logo wilds, two different feature symbols and a two-stage Mission Bonus. Later catalogue ownership labels do not establish that a different edition has identical rules.
Betting and payout units
Ordinary line awards multiply the number of coins bet on the winning payline. Total stake is the number of selected lines multiplied by coins per line and coin value. A line award must not be presented as a multiple of the entire spin stake. See our explanation of paylines and wild symbols.
The archived screens below establish the payout and feature rules, but not the full range of selectable coin values or maximum coins per line. Check the controls and help panel of the exact version offered; historical catalogue betting limits should not be assumed to apply today.

Verified paytable examples
These are the four ordinary symbols shown on the archived paytable page, rather than a complete list of every symbol. The figures are multiples of the line bet.
| Symbol pictured | 3 matching | 4 matching | 5 matching |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green-uniformed pilot | 50× | 100× | 1,000× |
| Fighter aircraft | 40× | 75× | 500× |
| Purple-uniformed officer | 30× | 50× | 200× |
| Green-and-yellow insignia | 25× | 50× | 200× |

Worked payout example
For an illustrative stake of 25 lines at one coin per line and a coin value of 0.01 currency units, the spin costs 25 × 1 × 0.01 = 0.25 units. Five green-uniformed pilots on one winning payline award 1,000 × 1 × 0.01 = 10 units. That is 40 times this total spin stake, not 1,000 times the spin stake. The award is the credited payout before subtracting the paid spin’s stake. Five fighter aircraft at the same line stake award 5 units.
Stacked wilds and separate feature symbols
The Flight Zone logo is wild and can form stacks on reels 2, 3 and 4. It replaces the ordinary symbols shown on the paytable, rather than the feature scatters. The Mission symbol and missile scatter have separate functions and appear on different reels.
Mission Bonus and free spins
Mission symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 trigger the Mission Bonus. In the first stage, the player tries to locate three atomic fuel tanks to advance to Mission Two. The second stage involves capturing the most-wanted enemy leader for an extra bonus reward. The original rules explicitly state that Mission Bonus wins are multiplied by total coins bet, a different basis from ordinary line awards. The available screen does not establish a complete bonus-prize table.
Missile scatters on reels 1 and 5 award 10 free spins. All wins are doubled during these spins. The triggering bet and selected lines carry over; free spins can retrigger and the Mission Bonus can also be triggered during free spins.

Gamble option, edition and availability
The historical Games and Casino description also records an optional card gamble: a correct colour guess doubles the amount gambled, while a correct suit guess pays four times that amount. An incorrect guess loses the amount gambled. This feature is described by the archive; it is not shown in the two rule screens reproduced here.
The screenshots do not verify a current RTP configuration, volatility rating, maximum overall win or present-day casino availability. No such figure is asserted here. Consult the exact game’s current help screen and the operator’s local availability. Feature rounds do not guarantee a profit.
Flight Zone questions
Which Flight Zone edition does this review cover?
The original Microgaming five-reel, 25-payline desktop slot shown in the archived screenshots. This does not confirm that any later edition has identical settings.
Does the 1,000 pilot award multiply the total stake?
No. It multiplies the line bet. With 25 equally staked lines, a 1,000-times award on one line equals 40 times the total spin stake.
Where can the stacked wild appear?
The Flight Zone logo stacks on reels 2, 3 and 4 and replaces ordinary symbols, not the feature scatters.
How are the 10 free spins triggered?
Missile scatters on reels 1 and 5 trigger 10 free spins with doubled wins. Retriggers are possible, the triggering bet and lines remain in use, and the Mission Bonus can occur during free spins.
How is the Mission Bonus different?
It requires Mission symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. Finding three fuel tanks in the first mission advances to the enemy-leader mission. Mission Bonus awards use total coins bet rather than coins per line.
Are today’s RTP and betting limits verified?
No. The archived paytable and feature screens do not establish the RTP or full betting range of a currently offered version. Check that version’s own information panel.
