This review documents a historical game edition. The archived rules and screenshots do not confirm current availability.

Explore Microgaming games

Gladiator is a historical Microgaming video slot with five reels, three visible rows and 50 paylines. Its illustrated Roman characters, lyres, fountains and gold coins distinguish this edition from other providers’ games with the same name. The main feature is a round of 100 free spins triggered by golden eagle scatters.

This guide describes the archived desktop release shown below. LCB currently places it in its Games Global catalogue, while its review identifies Microgaming as the developer. This is not a confirmation of current availability at any casino.

Reels, lines and coin units

The historical gameplay screen shows a five-by-three reel grid, with 50 selected paylines. Ordinary wins run from left to right on selected lines; the eagle scatter pays anywhere. The gold Gladiator coin is wild and substitutes for other symbols except the scatter. LCB also describes a mixed-symbol award combining Gladiator and Maiden symbols on a line; a complete verified mixed-pay schedule is not available in the screenshots used here.

In the illustrated setting, 50 lines at five coins per line produce a BET of 250 coins. At the displayed coin denomination of 0.01 currency units, that is a total stake of 2.50 currency units. The BET counter should not be read as a 250-unit cash stake.

Verified scatter payouts

The eagle paytable explicitly states that scatter awards multiply the total bet staked. These are not line-bet multipliers, and the eagles do not need to occupy one payline.

The archived help screen shows 250× for five scatters. This corrects the former table on this page, which listed 150× and incorrectly grouped scatters under payline headings. Scatter winnings are added to payline winnings.

Worked examples

At the illustrated 2.50-unit total stake, three eagles pay 3 × 2.50 = 7.50 currency units and trigger 100 free spins. Five eagles pay 250 × 2.50 = 625 currency units and also trigger 100 free spins. Any subsequent free-spin awards are separate from that triggering scatter payout.

The gameplay screenshot shows “LINE 2 PAYS 30 COINS” with five coins per line and a 0.01 denomination. That line award converts to 30 × 0.01 = 0.30 currency units. It is not 30 times the total 2.50-unit stake. The screen illustrates the wild completing a line combination; it does not provide the full ordinary-symbol paytable.

How the 100 free spins work

Three, four or five eagle scatters each trigger the same initial award of 100 free spins. The help screen fixes the stake and selected lines at the settings used on the triggering spin. Free spins cannot retrigger the feature. The archived rules do not state a general free-spin win multiplier, so none is assumed here.

The number of free spins does not guarantee a particular return. Increasing the stake also increases the cost of paid spins; it is not necessary to recommend maximum bets to explain this feature.

Historical edition and current limits

This illustrated Microgaming game is separate from other Gladiator titles, including the Betsoft game linked from LCB’s related-games section. Match the provider and interface before using these rules. No current stake range, RTP or playable operator is independently verified here. LCB’s prose and metadata give different maximum cash-prize figures, so this guide uses the readable scatter multipliers and coin calculations instead of treating a cash maximum as established.

Gladiator questions

Which Gladiator game is this?

The historical Microgaming desktop slot with five reels, three visible rows, 50 paylines and 100 free spins. Other providers use the same game name.

What does the gold coin wild replace?

It substitutes for ordinary symbols to form line wins, but it does not replace the eagle scatter.

Do I need five eagles for 100 free spins?

No. Three, four or five scattered eagles all trigger 100 free spins. Their cash awards differ: 3×, 20× and 250× the total stake respectively.

Can the free spins retrigger?

No. The archived help screen explicitly says they cannot retrigger. The stake and lines remain those of the triggering spin.

Are scatter awards multiplied by my line bet?

No. Eagle scatters multiply the total spin stake and pay anywhere on the reels. The scatter award is added to line wins.

Does the screen’s BET 250 mean 250 in cash?

No. In the illustrated setting it represents 250 coins. With a 0.01 denomination, those coins cost 2.50 currency units. The screen does not establish a current casino’s limits.
