Older edition — looking for another slot?
This review documents a historical game edition. The archived rules and screenshots do not confirm current availability.
Explore Microgaming gamesGlory of Rome is a historical Microgaming slot with five reels, three rows and up to 20 selectable paylines. Caesar, a Roman woman, chariots and gladiators appear in its Roman-themed design. This guide covers the older desktop edition shown in the archived screenshots, rather than confirming current casino availability.
The original developer is Microgaming. LCB now categorizes the title under Games Global, but its review and the historical interface identify the Microgaming release.

Lines, coins and winning combinations
The archived rules allow 1–20 lines and 1–20 coins per line. Ordinary combinations pay from left to right on selected lines. Only the highest win on each selected line is paid; wins on different selected lines are added. Caesar substitutes for other symbols except the scattered gladiator.
Keep coins separate from currency. The gameplay screenshot shows 20 lines, 20 coins per line and a coin denomination of 0.50. Its BET display of 400 is the total number of coins: 20 × 20 = 400 coins, worth 200 currency units at that denomination. The screenshot does not establish a current casino’s stake limits or currency.

Paytable: line awards and scatter awards
The following line awards multiply the coins staked on that line. Multiply the resulting coins by the coin denomination to convert them into currency. A dash means no award shown for that combination.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caesar | 10 | 150 | 1000 | 5000 |
| Roman woman | 5 | 50 | 500 | 1500 |
| Chariot | 4 | 25 | 200 | 500 |
| Lion or helmet | — | 20 | 100 | 250 |
| A or K | — | 15 | 50 | 150 |

| X or IX | — | 5 | 25 | 100 |
Gladiator scatters pay anywhere on the reels, separately from paylines: two pay 2×, three 5×, four 20× and five 100× the total spin stake. Scatter wins are added to line wins. Three or more also trigger the bonus feature.
Worked payout example
Suppose you select 20 lines at one coin per line with a coin denomination of 0.10 currency units. The total stake is 20 × 1 × 0.10 = 2 currency units. Five Caesars on one selected line pay 5,000 × 1 × 0.10 = 500 currency units. Three gladiator scatters pay 5 × 2 = 10 currency units, before any separate bonus awards. The Caesar award uses the line stake; the scatter award uses the whole spin stake.
Shields and free spins
Three or more scattered gladiators award eight initial free spins and open a selection of nine shields. Choose four shields; each reveals either a cash prize or eight additional free spins. Each cash prize is ten times the triggering total bet. For a two-unit triggering stake, that is 20 currency units per cash-prize shield.
All prizes during the free spins are doubled. The feature cannot be retriggered during those spins, and the bet and line settings remain those used to trigger it. The shield selections can add spins as part of the initial feature; that differs from retriggering it on the reels.
Edition and availability
This is an archival guide to the illustrated desktop version. It does not verify a current RTP, current stake range or an operator offering this exact edition. The 5,000× line award is a fixed paytable prize, not a progressive jackpot. Check an actual game’s help screen before relying on historical rules, and do not treat the casino listings as confirmation that this title is currently playable.
Glory of Rome questions
Which provider and edition does this guide cover?
The historical Microgaming desktop edition with five reels and 20 selectable lines. LCB’s present Games Global category does not change the developer attribution of the archived release.
Does Caesar replace the gladiator scatter?
No. Caesar is the substituting wild, but the rules explicitly exclude the scattered gladiator.
Are the 5,000× and 100× awards based on the same stake?
No. Five Caesars pay 5,000 times the stake on the winning line. Five gladiator scatters pay 100 times the total spin stake.
How many shields can I select?
Four of nine shields. Each selection awards either a cash prize of ten times the triggering total bet or eight additional free spins.
Can free spins retrigger the bonus?
No. The historical rules say the feature cannot retrigger during free spins. Additional spins can be awarded by the initial shield selections, and prizes during free spins are doubled.
Does BET 400 mean a 400-unit currency stake?
Not in the illustrated interface. With 20 lines and 20 coins per line, it represents 400 coins. At the displayed 0.50 coin denomination, that converts to 200 currency units.
