Golden Goose – Totem Treasure is a 20-line video slot from Microgaming which offers five reels. The game belongs to the Golden Goose Bonus Series, all of which are developed by this software provider and have the same basics. It has an Indian theme which is the reason why you will find various symbols on the reels that are linked to it in one way or another. Although the game has very basic graphics which remind more of a classic slot, its colorful design makes it somehow cheerful and pleasing to the eyes. During its bonus features, you will be able to enjoy great sound effects that add an extra layer of entertainment to the game.
In this slot, you can bet up to ten coins per line and you can choose from several coin sizes. The archived screen shows denomination 0.20 and 20 lines at ten coins each. No currency symbol is identified; these historical settings do not establish current casino limits. The active paylines in the game can be adjusted, meaning that you have the chance to increase or decrease their number according to your personal preferences and bankroll.

Golden Goose – Totem Treasure offers two special symbols – wild and scatter ones which significantly diversify the gaming process and make it more beneficial for the players. The wild element depicts an Indian woman and its main function is substituting for all elements in order to complete a winning combination. However, this rule doesn’t apply to scatter elements as they are also considered special symbols. These types of elements illustrate a drum and they will award you a payout if you manage to get at least three such symbols anywhere on the reels.
In this game, scatters don’t trigger any bonus features and thus, when you manage to get three, four or five of these elements, you will only receive the cash prize they offer. The high-value symbols depict an eagle, an Indian tent, a bonfire and a pipe with feathers attached to it. The playing card elements – A, K, Q, J, and 10 are also included in the game and standardly, they are the low-value ones.
| Symbol | Three | Four | Five |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 2 | 10 | 80 |
| J | 3 | 20 | 120 |
| Q | 4 | 30 | 150 |
| K | 5 | 40 | 200 |
| A | 6 | 50 | 300 |
| Pipe | 10 | 60 | 600 |
| Feather Jewellery | 12 | 80 | 800 |
| Bonfire | 12 | 100 | 1000 |
| Tent | 15 | 200 | 2000 |
| Eagle | 20 | 500 | 5000 |
| Wild | 40 | 1000 | 12000 |
Original rules screenshots and stake examples
Only the highest line win pays, from left to right. Wild substitutions double the completed win; drums are excluded. Three, four and five drums pay 8, 30 and 400 times the base coins across all selected lines, added to line wins.
The pictured base stake is 20 × 10 = 200 coins. Golden Goose costs 250 coins, an extra 50 coins (25%). At denomination 0.20, those stakes are 40.00 and 50.00 currency units. Three drums return 8 × 200 = 1,600 coins, matching the screen: 320.00 units gross, or 270.00 net after the 50.00 Goose-enabled stake, assuming no other wins.
Three eagles pay 20 × 10 = 200 coins (40.00 units). That returns the base stake but leaves a 10.00 loss after the Goose-enabled stake. A displayed paytable number is not a multiplier of the full 250-coin stake.
Bonus games and features
This slot offers four bonus features, all of which can be quite profitable and entertaining. However, what sets this game apart from the rest of the online video slots is that in order to be able to trigger any of the bonus features, you need to place the Golden Goose bet. It is essentially an additional side bet that is separate from your main wager. If you are willing to place it, there is a possibility for the golden goose to appear at the end of a each round and activate one of the four bonus features at random.
The four bonus features that you can get are Money or the Egg, Free Spins, Pick Eggs or Instant Prize. The latter is the only option that doesn’t require you to play a bonus game as it awards you a cash prize up to 2,000 coins instantly. Money or the Egg gives you the opportunity to win up to 10,000 coins or up to 50 free spins with a maximum of 3x multiplier. Free Spins offer up to 11 free games with a maximum of 6x multiplier whose number you will determine by selecting one of the available cards. Pick Eggs is a mini-bonus game in which you can win up to 5,000 coins.
Golden Goose Totem Treasure FAQs
Is this the five-line Totem Treasure?
No. This review documents the 20-line Golden Goose edition with an optional additional bet. Rules from similarly named editions should not be substituted.
Must I place the extra bet?
The screenshot offers separate 200-coin base and 250-coin Golden Goose buttons. Only the latter qualifies for the random Goose features; eligibility does not guarantee a trigger.
Does an eagle award of 5,000 mean 5,000 times my total stake?
No. The line table scales by coins per line. The 12,000 entry belongs to five wilds, not five eagles.
Does a drum win include the additional Goose stake in its multiplier?
The pictured three-drum result is 1,600 coins: eight times the 200-coin base stake, not eight times 250.
Conclusion
Golden Goose – Totem Treasure is an innovative video slot which offers slightly different rules when it comes to bonus features. In order to trigger any of the four available bonus rounds, you need to place an additional side bet. The side bet increases the cost of each qualifying spin in exchange for bonus eligibility. The advertised prizes alone do not show that it offers good value, and paying the extra stake does not guarantee a bonus. The prize ceilings do not identify which feature offers the best expected return.
Furthermore, it also offers special symbols thanks to which you can form more winning combinations. In terms of graphics, the game is fairly basic, but its great design makes up for this drawback to some extent. If you are looking for a slot with simple gameplay and extraordinary bonus features, you should consider trying your luck on Golden Goose – Totem Treasure.
