Older edition — looking for another slot?
This review documents a historical game edition. The archived rules and screenshots do not confirm current availability.
Explore Microgaming gamesJackpot Express is a historical three-reel, five-payline slot from Microgaming. This review covers the red desktop edition with a steam locomotive beneath the reels and a paytable on the right, not another developer’s game with the same name. The rail car carrying gold is the wild and has different awards on different lines.
The screenshots document this older edition; they do not establish that a particular casino still offers it. Check the exact game’s help screen and total stake before playing.

Reels, lines and the wild
The game has one coin per selected line. The pictured paytable says that only the highest win is paid on each selected line. Three matching symbols can pay, and a mixed group of three BAR symbols has its own award. The gold rail car substitutes for all symbols.

Jackpot Express paytable and units
These awards are in coins. Multiply by the selected coin denomination to obtain the return in the game’s balance units. They are not multiples of the combined five-line stake.
| Combination | Coins |
|---|---|
| Three mixed BAR symbols | 4 |
| Three single BARs | 10 |
| Three double BARs | 40 |
| Three triple BARs | 60 |
| Three red sevens | 80 |
| Three rail cars on line 1 (green) | 1,000 |
| Three rail cars on line 2 (blue) | 1,500 |
| Three rail cars on line 3 (yellow) | 2,000 |
| Three rail cars on line 4 (purple) | 2,500 |
| Three rail cars on line 5 (red) | 5,000 |
Worked stake and payout examples
The screenshot shows a denomination of 5, five coins wagered and a total bet of 25.00: 5 lines × 1 coin × 5 balance units = 25 units staked. Two highlighted lines contain mixed BARs. Each pays 4 coins × 5 units = 20 units; together they produce the displayed 40.00 return. Subtracting the 25-unit stake leaves a 15-unit net gain on that spin. The screenshot does not identify a national currency, so these are balance units rather than assumed dollars or euros.
For a separate hypothetical example at the same denomination, three rail cars on active line 5 would return 5,000 × 5 = 25,000 balance units. That is 1,000 times the total 25-unit stake, not 5,000 times the total stake. Subtract the stake to calculate profit; any other qualifying line awards must be evaluated separately.
Features and edition limits
LCB describes this edition as non-progressive, without free spins or bonus games. Its line-specific rail-car awards are fixed paytable prizes, not growing pooled jackpots. LCB lists 93.23% RTP, but that number is not visible in the inspected screenshot; confirm the exact version’s help rather than treating it as a verified configuration for every installation. RTP is a long-run theoretical measure, not a prediction for a session.
Jackpot Express questions
Does a gold rail car work as a wild?
Yes. The original screen explicitly labels it wild for all symbols. Three rail cars also have their own line-specific awards.
Why can three rail cars pay different amounts?
The paytable assigns a different award to each line. The red fifth line carries the largest listed award, 5,000 coins; the green first line lists 1,000 coins.
Can I add the mixed-BAR award to a higher award on the same line?
No. The visible rule pays only the highest win per selected line. Separate winning lines can contribute to the spin’s combined return, as the pictured 40.00 result demonstrates.
Is the 5,000-coin prize a progressive jackpot?
No. It is a fixed award shown on the historical paytable. Do not confuse the game’s name with a network jackpot feed.
Does selecting five lines guarantee a win?
No. More active lines increase the total stake at the same denomination. A losing spin loses that stake; decide on a time and spending limit before playing.
