Explore Microgaming gamesThe Nutty Squirrel is a historical Microgaming slot with five reels, three rows and 20 paylines. The edition below uses a scientist-squirrel wild and a golden-acorn scatter. Two original game captures preserved by Games and Casino document its reels and paytable. They are small historical images, not evidence that the title is currently available at a particular casino.

Line awards and payout units
The captured paytable states that line awards are multiplied by the coins bet on that line. Wins run left to right, except for the scattered golden acorn, which pays anywhere. Only the highest win pays on each selected line. The table below gives line-bet multiples; these are not multiples of the whole spin stake.
| Symbol | Two | Three | Four | Five |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Juice or milk | 0x | 5x | 20x | 125x |
| Honey or sugar | 0x | 5x | 25x | 200x |
| Oak leaf or nut | 0x | 10x | 50x | 250x |
| Warrior squirrel | 2x | 15x | 100x | 500x |
| Knight squirrel | 2x | 15x | 100x | 500x |
| Queen squirrel | 5x | 25x | 250x | 1,500x |
| Green squirrel holding a nut | 10x | 100x | 500x | 5,000x |
Example: at one coin per line across 20 lines and a hypothetical 0.10-credit denomination, a spin costs 2.00 credits. Five green squirrels on one line award 5,000 x 0.10 = 500 credits gross. If there are no other wins, the net gain after the stake is 498 credits. The line award equals 250 times this total stake, not 5,000 times the total stake.
Wild and golden-acorn rules
The scientist squirrel appears on reels one and five and substitutes for other symbols except the golden acorn. The help attaches a 2x multiplier to a win completed using the wild. Its wording does not establish a separate 4x rule for two wilds, so no such rule is assumed here.
Two, three, four and five scattered golden acorns pay 2x, 5x, 20x and 100x the total stake, respectively. Scatter awards are added to line wins. On the same 2.00-credit example stake, three acorns award 10 credits before any line award, as well as triggering free spins. Excluding later feature results and other wins, that is an 8-credit net gain.
Fifteen free spins
Three or more golden acorns anywhere trigger 15 free spins. The original help specifies doubled winnings and says the feature can retrigger. This supports retriggering, but does not document an unlimited number of retriggers or a maximum feature length. The earlier review’s claim that free spins can continue infinitely is therefore not repeated.
Edition limits and return information
The captures verify the pictured award schedule and feature instructions. They do not establish a complete current stake range or RTP. The previous 95.17% return figure is omitted because it was not independently verified in this edition’s help. Likewise, a 5,000x line award is a paytable prize, not evidence of a progressive jackpot or a fixed cash amount. Check the actual game’s denomination and operator limits if it is offered.
Frequently asked questions
How many lines does this version have?
Twenty paylines across five reels and three rows.
Where can the scientist wild appear?
The photographed help restricts it to reels one and five. It does not substitute for the golden-acorn scatter.
Are scatter prizes based on the line bet?
No. They use the total stake, while ordinary line awards use the stake on the winning line.
How many acorns start free spins?
Three or more anywhere trigger 15 free spins with doubled wins.
Are retriggers unlimited?
The help confirms that retriggers are possible but does not show an unlimited-retrigger rule or a feature cap.
Evidence: the two original screens on Games and Casino’s The Nutty Squirrel page. The payout table, units and feature rules were visually checked against the game captures.
