All American Video PokerAll American is a widely spread variation of video poker and one of the most successful releases of this type was developed by Playtech. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards and bet limits range between 0.05 and 25 credits in your preferred currency. Any number from 1 to 5 coins can be wagered per hand, but the highest payouts are available only when playing the maximum coins.

Playtech’s All American Video Poker features excellent graphics, high-quality gameplay and extraordinary appearance in classic Americana style. It is a really enjoyable game to play that would be appreciated by all fans of video poker – it runs smoothly on the reliable Playtech software platform, it is relatively easy, and it offers attractive returns that few casino games can beat. This video poker version is somewhat similar to the traditional Jacks or Better game, with the exception of the payouts offered for each winning hand. In fact, this seemingly tiny difference has a great impact on the way the game should be played if you want optimal results.

Gaming Experience

Played with a single deck of 52 cards without any Wilds, All American Video Poker features a very simple gameplay. The minimum winning hand is a pair of Jacks (or better) and the goal is to get the best winning hand out of the cards dealt during the two draws. In the first one, the player receives 5 cards and needs to choose which to retain and which to replace. The initial hand can be seen in the lower half of the screen, while right above it, the full pay table is displayed.

Once one or more cards are held, the player can hit the Deal/Draw button, located at the bottom of the screen, along with the Bet One and Bet Max buttons. New cards are then dealt, replacing the discarded ones and a winning combination may be formed. On the left side of the screen, you can see the Win window, as well as a box showing the double-up limit. On the right, the bet limits, the coin denomination, and your current bet are displayed.

The game has settings that are common to all Playtech games and players can adjust the volume and make some minor changes to the interface.

Specific Features

Playtech’s All American Video Poker is also provided with a Gamble feature, available through the Double option after a winning. In a bonus round, the player needs to pick one of 4 face-down cards. If the chosen card is higher than the dealer’s card, the player wins, doubling the winnings generated in the current round. This win can be gambled multiple times until the Double Up Limit is reached.

The major difference between this version and the classic Jacks or Better game can be seen in the pay table. In All American Video Poker, the payout for Two Pairs is the same as for a Jacks or Better hand – 1:1, while in the classic variation, it is twice the bet size. This means that the lower paying combinations which occur more frequently will bring lower winnings than they would in a full-pay Jacks or Better game. However, the payouts for Straight, Flush, and Full House are all 8 times the size of the bet, which suggests better returns from hands of medium strength. Getting Four of a Kind, on the other hand, pays off only 34 times the bet.

All this affects the average returns players can expect from the game, so the pay table should always be taken into consideration when choosing the right playing strategy.

All American Video Poker by Playtech comes with plenty of advantages, so every player looking for a good video poker game should at least try it. The game offers crisp graphics, fast gameplay, and crystal clear sound effects that greatly enhance the gaming experience. It runs seamlessly on any computer when it is downloaded as part of Playtech’s casino software, but it is also available in many Flash-powered online casinos, as well.

All American Video Poker is fairly simple and easy to play, although it is a skill-based game, so it should appeal to both beginners and veteran players. One of the best features of this version of video poker, however, is its nice RTP percentage of 99.37%, which is quite generous even for this type of virtual games.
