Dance of the Masai is a 5-reel video slot from Microgaming which offers 25 adjustable paylines. The theme of the game is inspired by Masai Mara, a natural reserve which is located in Kenya. The place was named after the Maasai people who are considered to be the ancestral inhabitants of that particular region. The reserve is home to various types of animals which is the reason why you will be able to find some of them depicted on the reels. The game is quite visually appealing as it has great graphics and design.
The archived interface shows an Expert control, 25 selected lines, 10 coins per line and a total stake of 250 coins. Exact autoplay settings and the denomination range are not established by the inspected rules screen. Check those settings in the installed edition.

Both special symbols in this slot – wild and scatter, are linked to the prevailing theme of the game. The wild element depicts a Masai warrior and it appears only on the second and the fourth reels. Its main function is to substitute for all symbols in order to help you make a winning combination. The only element which the wild symbol doesn’t replace is the scatter one. The latter depicts a beautiful view of a tree and its main function is to trigger the main bonus feature. It is worth mentioning that both special symbols appear animated when they come into effect.
Five giraffes pay 5,000 times the coins staked on the winning line; five antelopes pay 2,000 times that line stake. These are not multipliers of the whole spin stake. The other symbols are a hut, a shield and A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9.

How wins are calculated
Line combinations pay left to right on selected paylines. Only the highest win on each selected line is paid; wins on different selected lines are added. Tree scatters pay anywhere and their award is added to line wins. The ordinary symbol rows above multiply coins per line, while the scatter row multiplies the total coins staked on the spin.
For example, with 25 lines and one coin per line, the spin costs 25 coins. Three giraffes on one selected line return 75 coins, or three times the total spin stake. Five giraffes on one line return 5,000 coins, or 200 times that 25-coin stake. These examples assume no other wins.
At the same 25-coin stake, three tree scatters pay 5 × 25 = 125 coins; five trees pay 200 × 25 = 5,000 coins. At a hypothetical coin value of 0.01, the spin costs 0.25 and those scatter awards are 1.25 and 50.00 respectively. These are gross awards, not profit or estimates of winning frequency.
Bonus games and features
Three or more tree scatters award ten free spins. Free spins use the lines and bet of the triggering game, and the feature can be retriggered. Free-spin awards are added to the line and scatter wins.
The warrior substitutes for ordinary symbols but not the tree scatter, and appears only on reels two and four. During free spins, a winning combination using the warrior on reel two only receives a 2× multiplier; reel four only gives 4×; both reels give 8×. Merely seeing a warrior does not multiply every award on the screen.
In the free-spin feature, a warrior expands to cover all three positions on its reel and the pays are recalculated with that substitution. The optional Gamble feature offers a card-colour choice to double an award or a card-suit choice to quadruple it. A wrong choice risks losing the amount gambled; neither option guarantees a larger return.
Source and edition checks
The original PAYTABLE and GAME RULES screens in the Games and Casino Dance of the Masai archive were visually checked for this explanation. The five-tree scatter award is 200 times the total stake. No RTP figure is asserted here because the inspected original rules screens do not state one.
Dance of the Masai questions and answers
Does five of a kind pay a multiple of the entire stake?
Ordinary symbol wins multiply the amount staked on the winning line. Tree scatters instead multiply the whole spin stake, so the two types of award must not be calculated in the same way.
What do five tree scatters pay?
The original paytable shows 200 times the total spin stake, not 100 times. Scatter awards are added to any line wins.
How many scatters start free spins?
Three or more tree scatters award ten free spins, played with the triggering lines and stake. Retriggers are possible.
When does the 8× multiplier apply?
During free spins, it applies to a winning combination using warrior substitutions on both reels two and four. A warrior on reel two only gives 2×; reel four only gives 4×.
Are all overlapping line wins paid?
Only the highest award on each selected line is paid. Awards on different selected lines are added, and scatter wins are added separately.
Conclusion
This historical edition combines 25 selectable lines with retriggerable free spins and expanding warrior substitutes. The key distinction is between line-stake awards and total-stake scatter awards.
