The growing demand for exciting variations of the standard blackjack led to the necessity of creating more and more versions. Super Fun 21 is yet another exciting game, that has similarities to the traditional game of blackjack. In point of fact, the differences between them are so unnoticeable that many players who are new to the casino world engage in Super Fun 21 and do not realize they are not playing the classic version of blackjack.

Although the game mechanics are the same as those of the classic Blackjack game, there are a few breaches you have to be familiar with.

Super Fun 21 Basics

First of all, Super Fun 21 is played with a single deck although there are some casinos that use two decks.

In Super Fun 21 aces can be counted as one or as eleven. It depends on which of the two values is more convenient to the player. Queen, King and Jack count as ten. The rest of the cards are taken at face value. In order to get started, the player has to place a bet and after that, the dealer will give them two cards turned face up. As for dealer’s cards, one of them is face up, while the other one is turned face down.

The aim of the player is to have a hand totaling 21 or at least being close to that number. If the total sum of player’s hand exceeds 21, it is considered “busted” and the dealer wins the game. During the game of blackjack, the player is enabled to “hit” or “stand” in order to make the hand as close to 21 as possible. The term “hit” means to ask for one more card and “stand” means to turn down on the opportunity for being dealt another card. A hand equal to 21 is called natural blackjack.

What makes Super Fun 21 different from the traditional game is the fact that the player is declared the winner in case their hand totals at least 20. Even if the dealer has a blackjack and the player has a hand that equals to 20, the dealer loses.

Some of the other functionalities players particularly enjoy are the opportunities for splitting a hand up four times. If both the player and the dealer have blackjack, player’s hand is considered the winning one.

As mentioned earlier, Double down is possible at any time, regardless of the number of cards being dealt.

While the classic blackjack pays 3:2 the Super Fun pays even money, but that advantage is compensated by the casino edge.

While playing Super Fun 21 players are eligible for placing a side bet upon getting a blackjack in a designated suit but that is possible only during the first round of a newly shuffled deck. However, the house edge is not quite acceptable and as a result casinos that offer such functionality are few.

Even Money Blackjack

That is the most significant rule variation of Super Fun 21. While in the classic game blackjacks pay 3:2, here they pay even money. However, blackjack in diamonds’ payout is 2:1. In other words, if you hit 16 natural blackjacks, you should be paid even money for 15 of them.

House Edge

The house edge for the single deck game is 1.16% provided that the majority of natural blackjacks are paid even money and the dealer hits soft 17. If the game is a double deck one, the house edge amounts to 1.3%.
